SC allows SIT to file chargesheets, take actions as per law in Vyapam scam
The Supreme Court had ordered the transfer of all the Vyapam scam cases to the CBI from the Madhya Pradesh police on the July 9.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday allowed Special Investigation Team and Special Task Force to keep filing chargesheets and take other actions as per the law in Vyapam scam cases.

The apex court will hear on July 24 Central Bureau of Investigation's plea that SIT of MP Police be allowed to do the needful till transfer of cases to the central probe agency is complete.

The court was hearing CBI's plea seeking to file chargesheets in multi-crore cases in which the SIT has completed its probe.

The Supreme Court had ordered the transfer of all the Vyapam scam cases to the CBI from the Madhya Pradesh police on the July 9.

The CBI had on Saturday registered a preliminary inquiry into the mysterious deaths of nine persons allegedly linked to Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.

Agency sources said no action was initiated by the state police in all these deaths.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is under fire over the multi-crore Vyapam in which at least 49 people have died. The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam relates to irregularities in admission in state-run medical colleges and recruitment in government jobs.
