HYDERABAD: SBI Ladies Club, Hyderabad Circle, on Friday distributed cheques worth Rs 3,60,000 to 120 children in the age group of six to 14 years from 18 schools.“Being a commercial organisation, SBI is committed to fulfill the social obligation by helping the poor and helpless through its CSB activities,” said Pushpa Sharma, president, SBI Ladies Club, Hyderabad.The bank donated equipment worth Rs 44 lakh last year to various organisations which were actively involved in bringing out a change in the living standards of poor in the society.Under the Adoption of Girl Children scheme, poor girl students having academic excellence, in the age group of six to 14 years, studying in various schools were being helped every year for buying books, uniforms, school and exam fees. “Preference was being given to orphans, SC/ST and other backward classes living below the poverty line,” according to a SBI release.
