Mumbai: Many from Bollywood have danced to her steps but for the first time choreographer Saroj Khan is dancing to someone else's tunes.
With no jhatkas and matkas, at 57, Saroj Khan is all set to make her debut as an actor. The choreographer will be playing the role of a powerful underworld character in Naseerudin Shah's directorial debut Yun Hota To Kya Hota.
And moving in front of the camera from behind it, is not as easy as it seems.
"Its scary. But a good friend of mine said you have to do it and I said as long as you take the responsibility then its ok. I am happy at least I don?t have to use my brains this time, just the heart," Saroj said.
Saroj Khan's good friend who persuaded her to take to acting is none other than the director of the film, Naseeruddin Shah.
Years ago when Naseer danced for the first time on Oye Oye in Tridev, Saroj Khan was the choreographer. Now, Naseer decided its pay back time.
And even if Saroj is having a tough time getting her dialogues right, Naseer doesn't mind helping her rehearse them again and again.
Though this is not the first time Saroj Khan will be seen on the big screen as she has made appearances in a few movies before, she's never tried her hand at a full-fledged role.
Both the debutant actor and the debutant director are treading new ground in their fifties but the friends seem to be thoroughly enjoying their roles.
