NELLORE: Two town police on Thursday seized Rs 1 crore cash, which was unaccounted for, from the house of TDP leader and former corporator of Nellore municipal corporation, K Omprakash, here on Thursday.According to SP, B V Ramana Kumar, based on a reliable information, Two Town SI, Kishore Babu along with his men conducted a flash raid on the house of former corporator and found bundles of cash amounting to Rs 1 crore in a closed room of the house.The cash was handed over to flying squad SI, Gangadhar, who is dealing with such cases during the byelections. Gangadhar said that after taking statements from every one involved, the money will be handed over to Income Tax department, which will take further action. Omprakash, who is brother-in-law of Telugu Yuvatha state president B Ravichandra and Kavali MLA B Masthan Rao, claimed that the cash was from sale of his four acre land in Gangapatnam village in Indukurpet mandal. He said that he had sold one acre for Rs 30 lakh and brought the amount home and was planning to deposit it in the bank, when the raids took place. He said that he had planned to invest the money in aquaculture.The SP said that they were looking into possible loopholes in the security set up, considering that the amount was brought to Nellore, in spite of there being 18 checkposts in the district and city.
