Cooperation Minister B J Puttaswamy came down on Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Revanna in connection with the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) imbroglio.
After reviewing the department on Sunday, Puttaswamy told reporters that Revanna was responsible for the issue in which both Venkataramu and Premnath claimed the KMF managing director’s post.
“During Revanna’s tenure as KMF president, he had not considered the seniority of officials in appointing them as the MD which gave rise to the issue. It is the politicians who corrupt bureaucrats,” he charged.
Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has already established himself as a farmer leader, he added.
He pointed out that it was during Yeddyurappa’s tenure that the dairy industry got a boost which helped the dairy farmers of old Mysore region alone in getting the lion’s share of subsidy at `2 per litre of milk.
Responding to a query on appointment of the new KMF president in the wake of the incumbent being in judicial custody in connection with the bribe for bail case, he clarified that unless he resigns, the government has no such provision.
On the appointment of Lokayukta, he said that since former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda had not solicited the advice of the High Court Chief Justice, the case is in the Supreme Court. Until the apex court verdict, the state government cannot take any decision, he said.
On the appointment of State Human Rights Commission chairman, the minister admitted that there was a delay and assured that he would take up the case with the Chief Minister soon.
