Raja Bhaiyya resigns after SC ruling
The Supreme Court has quashed the state government's order to withdraw POTA charges against the Kunda MLA.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya has resigned from his post after the Supreme Court quashed the state government's decision to withdraw POTA charges against him.

The apex court also directed him to surrender before a Kanpur court.

Raja Bhaiyya met Mulayam Singh Yadav at the latter's residence after which said that the Chief Minister has agreed with his decision to quit.

"I met Yadav as soon as he arrived here from election campaign in Bihar and put forward my point of view before him in detail," the independent legislator from Kunda in Pratapgarh district said.

Raja Bhaiyya said he apprised Yadav with the circumstances leading to his resignation from the ministry.

"I told him that the opposition will make it an issue and accuse me of sticking to the chair even after the apex court judgement," he said.

Asked about the Chief Minister's reaction, Bhaiyya said, "He was sad but termed my step as correct."
