THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cabinet on Wednesday decided to give a solatium of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Raghu, a native of Chittur in Palakkad district, who was beaten to death at the Perumbavoor bus stand the other day. Briefing mediapersons about the cabinet decisions, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that Raghu’s wife will be given job in the government service. He said that all fisherfolk who wanted to join the National Fishermen saving-cum-relief scheme will be allowed to enrol in the scheme irrespective of the APL / BPL status. Pension of former landlords will be increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1500.A 51-member committee with Minister K P Mohanan as chairman will be constituted to monitor the implementation of the package for endosulfan victims in Kasargod district. The District Collector will be the convener of the committee. MPs, MLAs and representatives of all political parties and officials will be the members. He said the strife in the Kanjangad area of Kasargod district was unfortunate but was now under control. He said State Government would give all possible assistance to the expansion projects of Brahmos. The CEO of Brahmos and other top officials had a meeting with him and the Labour Minister and Industries Minister.For the expansion on the second and third phase, the State Government would provide sufficient land. He said Brahmos project would trigger large-scale development in the area.
