Press close button to end polling, says EC

CHENNAI: The Election Commission on Friday issued fresh instructions to the Presiding Officers on how to close the polling for the October 13 bypoll in Tiruchy West Assembly constituency.Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar, in a statement here, said complaints had come in the past that some of the Presiding Officers failed to close the EVM by pressing the ‘close button’ after the end of the poll, which could lead to suspicion about manipulation. All Presiding Officers should press the ‘close button’ at the end of the poll in the presence of all polling agents, he added.
