BANGALORE: Since its inception in September 2009 following a Supreme Court direction, the Police Establishment Board (PEB) has been in the news for one or the other reasons or controversies.
The Police Establishment Board has been set up to insulate the police transfers from the political interference. The Board, under the chairmanship of incharge DG IGP Dr S T Ramesh, met and transferred 346 Police Inspectors with immediate effect on Thursday evening. However, the very next day, the DGP's office issued the "modified" transfer list of 46 Police Inspectors without even calling a PEB meeting. This was done due to political interference, it is said.
