New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has described Congress president Sonia Gandhi as 'a leader of rare committment to moral values'.
Making a statement on Sonia Gandhi's resignation as a Lok Sabha MP and also as the Chairperson of the National Avdisory Council, he said: "Sonia is the tallest leader. She is a leader of rare committment to moral values."
He said the decision to adjourn Parliament session was 'taken after consulting all parties' and "we had completed all financial business by March 22."
On being asked whether her resignation will set a precedent for others to follow, the PM simply refused to comment.
Dr Singh said 'all options' were open on the issue of promulgating an ordinance on redefining office of profit and hailed Sonia Gandhi's resignation from Lok Sabha.
"There is no explicit decision as of now (on bringing the ordinance). We have not considered the ordinance. All options are open. We will discuss it with other political parites," he said.
Apparently referring to difficulties faced by incumbents in varioius parties including the Congress and Left allies, Singh said: "There is a problem. All political parties and
political persons are affected."
Asked about Sonia Gandhi's decision to resign as Lok Sabha MP and NAC Chairperson, he said this has once again proved that she is the country's "tallest leader and has a rare commitment to moral values which you don't find in plenty in our country."
