The court was hearing the trial after it had allowed an additional charge of repeat offenders against 3 accused after their conviction in two gangrape cases.

Mumbai: A Mumbai court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the quantum of sentencing in the Shakti Mills photojournalist gangrape case till April 1.

The court was hearing the trial of three accused after it had allowed an additional charge of repeat offenders to be added against them after their conviction last week in two separate cases of gangrapes at the abandoned Shakti Mills Compound in south Mumbai.

The Defence counsel said they hadn't received the Bombay High Court's order and needed time to go through it. The High Court had questioned the legal validity of the trial court's decision to frame additional charges against the three repeat offenders.

The repeat offenders charge could invite capital punishment for the three convicts.

The three have already been sentenced to life in prison in the tele-operator gangrape case.
