PARADIP: The bandh had no impact on the industries in Jagatsinghpur.Production at the two major fertiliser factories - IFFCO and PPL - was not affected and cargo operation at PPT was normal. PPT Chairman S Ananth Charan Bose said there was no disruption of work at the Port. But cargo dispatch was affected due to disruption of railway services owing to the bandh. Construction works at Essar and IOCL projects were, however, hit. Thousands of trucks were stranded on Chandikhol-Paradip NH and goods and passenger trains stranded on Paradip-Cuttack railway line.ANGUL: The bandh hit works at the Talcher coalfields while other Central sectors functioned normally. Construction activities at Jindal Steel and Power Limited, GMR, Jindal India Thermal Power Limited and Monnet Power Plant were affected. Besides, production of coal in all the eight coal mines at Talcher and coal transportation to power station in and outside the State, both by road and train, was affected due to blockades.A K Singh, Director (project and planning) of MCL, said there was a loss of about 25,000 to 30,000 tonne of coal at Talcher on Thursday due to the bandh. “While the bandh evoked mixed response in Talcher, there was no impact in Ib valley field. Coal traffic both at Ib valley and Basundhara was, however, hit,” he said. Singh added that coal production resumed by afternoon in all the mines at Talcher.Coal transportation to Nalco and NTPC power plants also came to a halt.ROURKELA: At Hemgir block, coal production and transportation from the mines of MCL were disrupted for the day and iron ore transportation at the Koida mining sector hit. Due to the bandh, hundreds of heavy vehicles were stranded on the State Highway 10, NH-143 and 520 running through the district. Similar was the sight on the roads of Koida and Hemgir mining areas.JHARSUGUDA: Coal transportation was paralysed and the GM offices of Ib Valley Coalfields Area and Orient Area of MCL were forcibly closed by members of BJD, BJP and Left parties.JAJPUR: At Sukinda, chromite production and transportation were seriously affected due to the bandh. However, there was no disruption of work in the Kalinga Nagar steel hub.
