One die as heavy rains continue to lash Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: One person has died as heavy rains continue to lash Andhra Pradesh since the last 24 hours. The rains have damaged crop in coastal districts. More than 80,000 hectares of crop are estimated to be damaged due to these incessant rain.

According to the Met Department, a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal is the reason for the unseasonal rains. The capital city of Hyderabad also witnessed continuous rains, leading to water logging and traffic snarls at various points.

A warning of heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours has been issued by the weather dept and district officials have been asked to sat alert for civic and sanitation issues.
