HYDERABAD: The miscreants who desecrated a place of worship at Kurmaguda in Madannapet, that led to the communal clashes in the Old City, have been identified, said J Satyanarayana, deputy commissioner of police, Detective Department. He also said seven persons were arrested in connection with the riots. However, he refused to reveal details about the people behind the desecration.The arrested were involved in offences like stone throwing, damaging autos, attempting to murder and damaging RTC buses during the communal riots in Saidabad and Madannapet, Satyanarayana told newsmen here on Tuesday. They are: Syed Amjad Ali (19) of Guddibowli, Chawani Naad Ali Baig, Mohammed Nizam, a mechanic, also of Guddibowli and Mohammed Dastagir from the National School area, Chawni  - all involved in stone-throwing incidents at Kurmaguda -, Syed Shakir alias Shaakeer, from the Junior College area, Chenchalguda - who was involved in damaging an autorickshaw and beating up an auto driver at the Royal Embassy College at Kurmaguda -, Yousuf Siddique alias Shoeb, a student and bouncer belonging to Chawni, and Mir Mudassar Ali alias Mudas from Bilal Mosque area, Hafeez Baba Nagar - for attempting to murder two persons at the graveyard behind the women's jail on the Madannapet police station premises. M Mallikarjun Reddy of Reddy Basti, Saidabad, was arrested for throwing stones on RTC buses and on the houses on the Jai Hind Hotel road in Saidabad."We arrested them based on video footage, CCTV footage and other information. We have also identified a few persons who were involved in throwing pieces of burnt meat and coloured water on the walls of a place of worship at Kurmaguda in Madannapet that triggered communal riots in Saidabad and Madannapet police limits," the DCP said.He said 26 cases were registered in connection with the communal riots in Saidabad, Madannapet Moghalpura, Kanchanbagh, Hussainialam and Chandrayanagutta. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising two ACPs and seven inspectors will probe the issue.
