Mumbai: Even as confusion and anxiety continued over the alleged serial killer stalking the streets of south Mumbai for sometime now, the Mumbai police on Sunday claimed to have got some "definite leads" against alleged serial killer Ravindra Kantrolle, who has been booked for one of the seven undetected murder cases.
A police team carried out scientific tests on Kantrolle on Sunday and claimed to have elicited some details regarding the complicity of the man in some cases. Kantrolle was booked for the murder of a 35-year-old unidentified man on a foot overbridge on January 11 after being arrested on charges of theft.
The police had, however, said that it will be premature to say that Kantrolle was involved in six similar cases registered in the Azad Maidan and Marine Drive police stations since October 2006.
Scientific tests on Kantrolle were carried out at the newly-commissioned ultra-modern forensic science laboratory located at Kalina in Mumbai which has facilities for conducting new-age scientific tests, including brain mapping and lie detector.
"We have got definite leads on his involvement in more than one of the murders. Few more confirmation, tests will be carried out on him which will help us in reaching a conclusion," a senior police official told PTI.
The police had formed a special investigation team to investigate into seven murders that took place in south Mumbai between October 5, 2006 and January 11 this year. Kantrolle was arrested on January 22 in a house-breaking case and later booked for the January 11 murder after the police recovered the clothes and weapon he had used during the murder.
