Mumbai: Over 16 kg of 'meow meow' drug seized by Narcotics Control Bureau, 6 arrested
All six are big drug suppliers and traffickers.

Mumbai: Over 16 kg of Amphetamine mephedrone, also known as meow meow, worth Rs 7 crore has been seized by Narcotics Control Bureau in Andheri and Mira road.

Six accused have been arrested in the case. One of the accused Jayantilal Kothari is believed to be a bookie and the other two accused, Jayantilal Kothari and Siraj Panjwani are involved in other narcotics related cases.

All six are big drug suppliers and traffickers.

CNN-IBN has been running a campaign against the scourge of the meow meow drug trade in Mumbai. Mephedrone and M-Cat are the other names for the drug which had exploded on to the drug circuit of Mumbai around a year ago.

More than 700 kgs of fatal drug worth over a Rs 100 crore was seized in Mumbai in July by the ATS, DRI, NCB and the crime branch while 1000 kgs are made in Maharashtra in a single day leading to 1 lakh addicts in Mumbai alone.

Despite the massive crackdown, M-Cat is still being sold like hot cakes, at five times the price.
