Multi-speciality outpatient centre inaugurated

CHENNAI: In order to offer treatment at subsidised rates, a new multi-speciality outpatient day care centre and dialysis centre was inaugurated by the Speaker of Tamil Nadu Assembly D Jayakumar in Ayanavaram today. The Chennai-based Rajasthan Youth Association Cosmo and RYA Cosmo Foundation have launched the Shantidevi Jawaharmal Chandan Day care and Parasmal Srisrimal Dialysis Centre for the benefit of public. About 85 per cent of the total cost of `8 crore was contributed by members of the RYA.The medical centre is built over an area of 7000 sq ft and has a panel of 12 doctors giving consultation on dentistry, diabetes, gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology, orthopaedics, physiotherapy, cardiology, nephrology and ENT. The day-care centre has three bedded facilities for emergency treatment, first aid and medical observation.Narendra Srisrimal, Chairman – Mega Project, RYA Cosmo, said, “Ayanavaram and the surrounding areas have a large number of lower middle class families. We planned to establish the centre here as it could benefit them. No recommendation or document proofs will be asked of the patients.”The centre also houses a pharmacy that will provide medicines free of cost for the first three days of prescription and thereafter at a discount rate of 15 per cent. The dialysis centre will provide services at a subsidised cost of ` 400. The centre will be open on all days from 8am to 8pm, and on Sundays up to 12 noon.The ultra-modern RS Mehta Lab in the centre is equipped with auto-analyser, photo calorie meter, incubator, centrifuge and electron microscope. The S Devaraj Jain Scan Centre has facilities for ultrasound colour Doppler scan, TMT test and ECG and the Kothari X Ray Centre is also a part of it. Others present at the event included P Vetrivel, MLA, and North Chennai District Secretary for AIADMK; V Neelakandan, MLA, Thiru Vi K Nagar constituency; Dr MR Girinath, Chief cardio-vascular surgeon, Apollo Hospitals and Jawaharmalji Chandan, Managing Trustee of Jawaharmalji Chandan Charitable Trust.
