Muzaffarnagar: The Monsoon, arriving a month earlier than normal, has wreaked havoc in large parts of Uttar Pradesh. It has been raining for over 24 hours in many areas of Uttar Pradesh. The administration and people are on high alert in areas adjacent to rivers in the state.

Due to sudden increase in the water level of rivers at least 150 people have been stranded on piece of land in Bijnor district's Rawali village. The place where these people are is surrounded on all sides by flood waters.

Heavy rains continued through out Monday night in Muzaffarnagar and water has entered several houses and shops. Most of the roads are waterlogged, revealing the utter lack of preparation on the part of the municipal administration to deal with the situation.

According to the met department, Saharanpur and adjacent areas received 20 mm rain in a day while it was 16 mm in Hapur. Anupshahr and Hardoi recorded 14 mm rainfall, Meerut 11, Kasganj and Aligarh 9 mm rainfall.

Heavy rains are expected in the next few days, according to the met department.
