Amid the severe heatwave conditions in Delhi, reports have suggested that monsoon would arrive in the national capital by June 27, bringing much-needed relief. No official confirmation, however, has been made so far.
Meanwhile, in a big respite from the scorching heat, Delhi witnessed light-intensity showers amid the ongoing heatwave on Wednesday. Delhi received showers just two hours after the city recorded the country’s highest-ever temperature at 52.3 degrees Celsius. The weather station in Delhi’s Mungeshpur on Wednesday recorded India’s hottest-ever day with 52.3 degree Celsius at 2.30 pm.
However, a day after Delhi’s Delhi’s Mungeshpur reportedly recorded 52.3 degrees, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) raised questions about the accuracy of the sensors. “It could be due to an error in the sensor or the local factor. IMD is examining the data and sensors,” said the weather agency.
Monsoon Arrives Early In Kerala
On the other hand, the southwest monsoon made an early arrival in Kerala and the North-eastern states on Thursday with heavy rains over the region. Normally, the monsoon sets in over Kerala on June 1 and advances over most part of northeast India by June 5. However, this time, the seasonal rains have begun over South India as well as the north-eastern states around the same time.

Delhi
Monsoon is expected to arrive in the national capital by June 27.
Mumbai
In Mumbai, the monsoon rains are expected to fall around June 10-11.
West Bengal
Bengal, which is still recovering from the aftermath of Cyclone Remal is expected to receive monsoon between June 10 and 29.
Bengaluru
Monsoon is expected to hit Bengaluru by June 13 or 15, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted.
Uttar Pradesh
The weather agency has predicted the arrival of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh between June 18 and 20.
Bihar
Bihar is expected to witness the onset of monsoon showers between June 13 to 18.
