As I see it, there will probably be two types of writing in this blog. One type will concern filmmaking. The title 'Money into Light' draws from this aspect of the blog. Filmmaker John Boorman (Hell in the Pacific, The Tailor of Panama) stated that the process of filmmaking is the process of turning 'money into light'. Work in Bollywood and you'll see this dramatised before you. Lots of money, lots of light, lots of money clinking in the pockets of producers and lots of light spilling from whirring projectors. I have observed, though for a little while, what lies between the money and the light. I find this particular metamorphosis fascinating. It entails euphoria, frustration, suffering, discovery, travel, a neverending quest for clarity and a host of revelations I hope to talk about in this space.
The second type of writing will concern film viewing: my two bits on stuff I watch, put out there for you to react to. In fact, I will probably begin with one of these.
So if you like films, and like to talk films, watch this space.

This is an introductory note to what I hope will become an informative blog on films and entertainment. Let me confess outright that films are probably going to be its prime subject. I have consciously breathed films for the last three years, unconsciously for the last twenty-three. From the days when my family and I consumed the one-film-a-day from the local video rental place, to the onslaught of STAR movies, to the Saturday night one-film-a-week at boarding school, to the quest for erudition through pompous university film critic clubs, to the understanding of the works of favourite auteurs and to finally watching a film grow from its conceptual seed to its cinema print, film has been a significant part of my life-experiences.
