Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): The Lucknow Police have arrested a man who they claim is supplying military information to the Pakistani intelligence agency - ISI.

They hope that his interrogation will help in cracking a major spy ring operating in Uttar Pradesh.

Nasir Khan, a resident of Juggaur near Lucknow, was detained at Hazratgunj in the heart of the capital by Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police, official sources said.

The sources said that Khan, married to a Pakistani national who is here on a long term visa, had visited Karachi in 2004 where he was trained by ISI for carrying out espionage activities.

They alleged that he was constantly supplying information to the Karchi-based unit of ISI about the troop movement and situation in Uttar Pradesh.

His interrogation, they said, may lead to few names within the army formation in the state, who had been helping him in supplying classified documents.

The security agencies also recovered two rubber stamps - one of a Commanding Officer of Lucknow and another of an Army Captain - which he used in making fake I-cards for gaining access to army establishments, they claimed.

The sleuths also recovered movement order of 21 Rashtriya Rifles from him.

Khan was found with an "Army Dependent Card" which provided him access to cantonment areas in the state.

He had shown his father as a retired Army Subedar.
