Chennai: The Madras High Court on Monday put on hold the release of Prakash Jha's 'Aarakashan' till an amount of Rs 3.71 crore borrowed by the producer is returned to the financiers. The film, produced and directed by Jha, stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone and is due for release all over the country on August 12.

Judge V Periyakarupiah issued the interim order.

A petition filed by two lawyers against the film is already pending in Bombay High Court.

Meanwhile, reacting to the Madras High Court order, director Jha said the

cheque bouncing issue has "nothing to do with the film."

"Prakash Jha Productions is the sole rights-holder of 'Aarakshan'. All rights and authority regarding the business of 'Aarakshan' are vested with Prakash Jha Productions.

"The cheque-bouncing issue is between Feroze A Nadiadwala and Sushil Gupta. It has nothing to do with 'Aarakshan'. Nadiadwala is sorting it out. 'Aarakshan' will release worldwide on August 12 as per schedule," Jha said, after the court ruling.

The film is already embroiled in a controversy with the National Commission for Scheduled Castes dubbing it as anti-dalit. Some political leaders have also expressed their reservation over the subject of the movie.####Copy of Feroze A Nadiadwala’s press release:
