Zakir Anwar, the Lok Janshakti Party's lone legislator in Bihar on Wednesday resigned from the party to protest the LJP's likely alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Lok Sabha polls.
"Yes, I have resigned from the LJP in protest," Anwar said.
He said there was no moral ground for him to continue with the LJP after the party said the option for alliance with the BJP was open.
Anwar is legislator from the Araria assembly constituency and was keen on contesting the Lok Sabha polls.
"LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan's closeness to the BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi shocked and surprised me because Paswan was not missing a chance to target both for communal politics," he said.
