THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Higher Education Council has constituted a committee to review the policy on higher education, to be submitted to the State Government. The Council also plans to set up a seventh committee, this time to take into consideration the aspirations of the non-teaching staff, T P Sreenivasan, vice-chairman of KSHEC told mediapersons here on Tuesday. The move to set up a new committee to draft a policy on higher education has seemingly thrown the U R Ananthamoorthy Report, submitted to the previous Executive Council of KSHEC, into the dark to gather dust. The Ananthamoorthy report submitted to the government in 2011, with the Assembly polls near, had kicked off controversies, especially on recommendations including public control over private colleges.T P Sreenivasan said that the Ananthamoorthy Report had not been dismissed and was before the government and the new one was a committee to formulate policy taking into account of the latest developments in the higher education sector. The new committee will be headed by Prof J A K Thareen, vice-chancellor of Pondichery University.
