Kolkata Doctor Rape-murder Case: Patients Recall Her Kind Nature, Seek Justice
The victim's patients said that she used to listen to all of their problems with a smile on her face.

RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata is at the centre of people’s anger after the body of a 31-year-old trainee doctor was found in its seminar hall. Doctors across India were seen protesting on roads carrying plaque cards of justice while demanding strict punishment for the accused. The victim did her medical practice at Sodepur city for some time, before going to RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. She had her chamber in Sodepur. The patients of the doctor at Sodepur are now demanding justice for the death of the doctor, whom they fondly called Dr Madam. As per statements of the patients, the doctor used to waive her patient’s fees if they were poor. Her patients couldn’t forget the advice from Dr Madam. They said that she used to listen to all the problems of her patients with a smile. Many people visited the doctor for treatment due to her gentle nature and skill. The owner of the chamber, the health workers and the patients who came for medical services could not accept her death. They have been protesting on the roads demanding justice.

The doctor first started seeing patients as a general physician. She treated her patient as a chest medicine specialist. Her clinic used to welcome patients on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday to receive medical services.

A worker in the chamber said that it was hard to believe that such a cheerful, positive doctor would suffer. One local named Sudev Ghosh regularly went to the doctor for stomach and chest problems. He was slowly recovering with the doctor’s medicine. The owner of the drug store said, “Sudeb babu called me crying on the news of madam’s death.”

Hurt by the demise of Dr Madam, Sudev babu said, “ If for some reason I could not come to the chamber, doctor Didi would advise over the phone if necessary.” He used to visit the clinic on his father’s scooter before buying a car a few months ago. The fee was only Rs 250. The patient and their family members seem to be mentally broken by such a horrible death of the young doctor.
