BANGALORE: The Karnataka Knowledge Commission has decided to adopt a focused approach in specific areas in its functioning during the next one-and-a-half years, KKC chairman Dr K Kasturirangan said. “The first meeting of the restructured commission studied the road travelled in the last three years and studied the evaluation report submitted by the Public Affairs Centre about the commission’s functioning,” he said here on Wednesday.He added that the PAC was satisfied at the functioning of the KKC. Commission member secretary Dr M K Sridhar said that the commission will focus on issues such as higher education, strengthening of state education resource institutions, development of teachers’ professional policy to name a few. “Two teams for each of the focused programmes will be constituted. While the mission group will discuss and prepare subject-specific action plan, the task force will ensure its actual implementation,” Dr Sridhar said. Dr Sridhar said that the KKC had submitted 60 recommendations in the last three years to the government, of which 12 of have been implemented with another 22 on the verge of completion. “Implementation of remaining 22 recommendations will be taken up during the next 18 months,” he said.
