Mumbai: The Bombay High Court will on April 18 hear the bail plea of Abhishek Kasliwal, son of Sreeram Mill owner, for allegedly raping and assaulting a 52-year-old woman.
The bail plea, which was filed on April 5, will come up for hearing before Justice V M Kanade.
In his plea, Kasliwal had submitted that he was falsely implicated in the case and the complaint was concocted to extract money from him. He claimed he had not committed any offence and that it was an act of consensual sex.
The plea also claimed that the media had hyped up the matter and blown it out of proportion as the applicant hailed from a well known business family.
The bail plea prayed that while the accused had already undergone a detailed interrogation, brain mapping and lie detector test and was currently languishing in jail, there was nothing more left for the police to investigate and Kasliwal be granted bail.
Earlier, the Session Court had rejected his plea for bail on March 28 on grounds that his release will influence the witness and hamper the ongoing investigation.
