Nellore: Kanchi Sankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswati is stable after being rushed to a hospital following a heart attack on Saturday. The seer has been kept in the ICU for observation.
He was hospitalised on Saturday in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh after he complained of drowsiness and weakness, the police said.
He was rushed to a private hospital in a semi-unconscious condition after which medical examination and other tests were conducted on him. His condition has now improved, they said, adding all the tests were normal.
He was admitted to the hospital at around 4.30 pm after he fell unconscious while getting down from a vehicle, on his way to a temple in Nellore city, sources said.
Kanchi Mutt head Jayendra Saraswati who arrived in Nellore three days ago, was scheduled to perform a religious ritual at the Chandramouleeswara Swamy temple in Nellore on Sunday.
