Jaipur: The Jaipur Police has announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for information on IAS officer BB Mohanty, who is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman. The woman lodged an FIR in January claiming that Mohanty had raped her repeatedly after promising to clear her civil services exam.
Mohanty has been absconding since. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate issued a standing arrest warrant against Mohanty on June 25 under Section 83 of CrPC after he failed to appear before it on June 18 in the case.
A non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Mohanty, an Additional Chief Secretary-rank official, in February by the court on the complaint lodged on January 25 at Mahesh Nagar police station here.
In her complaint, the civil services aspirant had alleged that Mohanty, who was then posted as the Chairman of the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal, raped her for the past one year on pretext of helping her clear the IAS exams.
