New Delhi: After their superb showing in the World Cup earlier this year, the Indian women's cricket team is now ready for a new challenge against the visiting English team.
The visitors will play a one-off Test match and five One-Day internationals.
Rated as the second best team in the world after their terrific show in the last World Cup where they finished as runners-up, the Indian eves are not taking the forth-coming series lightly
But the Indian team has a lot of work to do, if they are to maintain their status of world-beaters although they had blanked the visitors 5-0 the last time they had come here.
Captain of the Indian team, Mithali Raaj says, "This time we are emphasising more on fitness and fielding drills."
Opener Anjum Chopra said England is a good team and that they are not taking them lightly.
The World Cup final was an eye-opener where the team lost out to the Australians largely because of their poor fielding skills and the English challenge will be strong, as they have just beaten Australia at home.
The Indian team has not only to deal with a formidable opponent on the field but also face problems off the pitch.
Lack of proper practice facilities is hampering the build-up to the series and even proper transportation is not available to the team.
The women can not expect the same adulation as the men in a cricket crazy country but what they do expect is a little more support from their governing body.
