Srisailam is one of the most famous places in the state of Andhra Pradesh, known for the temple of Sri Bhramarambika Mallikarjuna Swamy. Devotees from across the country visit the town to worship the deity. This has proven to be very profitable to the local artists of the place, who earn their living through painting the vehicles with the name and illustrations of the Lord.
As per Local18, the artists depend on running their livelihoods by decorating vehicles with beautiful paintings of the deity. Over 150 artists in Srisailam paint illustrations of devotees on vehicles to make a living, reports state.
They have been working in this profession for several years now. On a car, they use their talent to paint a Lord Shiva image in many brilliant ways. So, if a devotee chooses to get their car decorated by these artists, they will have to pay Rs 300. One of the painters, called artist Dhanam told Local18 that the price could go up to Rs 350.
He stated, “We earn up to Rs 1,000 a day and we are one of the families who are living by trusting Srisailam Bhramarambika Mallikarjuna Swamy.” According to him, decorating the vehicles has become a habit for them, as they have been working on it since childhood. They try to make such illustrations that a devotee would find it beautiful at first glance.
The video shared by Local18 shows the artists devoted to painting the vehicles with Lord Shiva’s breathtaking images. The artists are captured skilfully using their fingers on the glass front and the windows of the cars. They meticulously stroke the fingers on the glass space to decorate it with a colourful image of Lord Shiva. The colours used in the painting include purple, yellow, green and pink.
