New Delhi: Former Chief Justice of India R S Pathak, who is heading the one-man Judicial Commission to inquire into the allegations in Volcker Committee report says he will question the External Affairs Minister if necessary.
"The sole attempt will be to ascertain the truth in the allegations against Natwar Singh and the Congress party contained in the Volcker report," Pathak said, shortly after he was named to head the probe on Monday.
Pathak added that he would ?independently? inquire into the allegations in the Volcker Committee report.
"The Commission, whose findings will be submitted to the Government, will consider all the legalities to see if the probe can be extended beyond India," he said.
Pathak stated since the final terms of reference of the Commission had not been set it was too early for him to comment on how exactly the probe would be conducted.
Meanwhile, amidst growing pressure on Singh to put in his papers, the Congress sent a letter to Kofi Annan seeking all documents used by Paul Volcker.
The Opposition NDA has also made a similar request. They also met President A P J Abdul Kalam demanding Natwar Singh's removal.
The NDA told reporters that they too had sent a letter to Annan asking for all documents on the Volcker report.
The NDA letter was signed by three heavyweights, Atal Behari Vajpayee, L K Advani and George Fernandes.
