Bangalore: Heavy rains claimed the life of one person in Karnataka on Sunday. The rain battered north Karnataka districts of Gulbarga, Yadagiri, Raichur and Belgaum for 24 hours.
According to government sources, over 259 houses have been destroyed and two people have been seriously injured in the rain. It has also caused a huge damage to standing crops in thousands of acres of agricultural land.
Most parts of Karnataka have received 25 per cent to 50 per cent of excess monsoon in 2013 bringing both smile and sorrow.
