BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday lambasted the state government over the death of children due to malnutrition at Marakamdinni village in Raichur and said that it is resorting to eye-washing tactics on the issue.Hearing a PIL filed by B L Patil and a suo-motu petition, a division bench headed by Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen observed, “Children are dying due to malnutrition. This is being discussed at national level, but the state government is not taking any action. The statements made by you (government) seems to be a politician’s speech and the promises made by you were not implemented at all.”At the same time, Secretary of the Legal Services Authority Vishwanath V Angadi produced a packet containing the nutritious food being provided to children in the state. Justice Sen was shocked when he saw the packet as there was no information about the quality of the food, no mention about the manufacturer and there was no government seal. He said, “Looking at this, i suspect that you (state government) are involved in some dealing. Who is responsible if some children die?” The matter was adjourned for further hearing.
