Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed on Wednesday expressed concern over poor condition of roads in the state and warned the officers that action would be taken if they failed to improve the standard of the road.

The governor, who arrived here in Dhanbad for reviewing development works in the coal belt, said he would not compromise with corruption and quality of works. He said officers must discharge the work while maintaining quality.

"A state's identity is recognized by its roads, so you must concentrate on maintaining their standard," Ahmed said while distributing loans of over Rs 206 crore among over 5000 beneficiaries.

Earlier the governor reached here in the morning from Koderma district by chopper. He also inaugurated boys' and girls' hostels of Patliputra Medical College Hospital.

The governor assured local MPs and MLAs that their suggestions on development would be taken on priority basis.
