Governor K Rosaiah on Monday reviewed the measures adopted in the State for eradicating the menace of ragging on campuses.

In the course of the meeting of the State Level Monitoring Cell (SLMC), of which he is the Chairman, a number of new measures to strengthen prevention of ragging were suggested, including a special cell with the police for handling such complaints exclusively.

According to a Raj Bhavan release, the Governor put forward the view that special formats to seek data from the educational institutions by District Level Committees had to be devised.

These committees would subsequently send reports to the State Level Monitoring Cell at least on a quarterly basis.

He also suggested that the toll-free complaint numbers and the website address www.antiragging.in, be  hosted by the Government of India.

The meeting also decided that the police department would have a separate cell at the headquarters exclusively handling complaints received from students and parents of the affected students henceforth, in order to bring about some resolve to the ragging scenario.
