Go Mango! Cool way to beat the heat
CNN-IBN correspondent Bikramjit Ray whips up two cool mango delicacies to sweeten up a scorching summer day.

New Delhi: Want to know what the best thing about summer is? Just look around. Yes. It's mango season.

Langra, dasseri, Safeda and gulabkhas, alphonso they're all here, priced from Rs 50 all the way to Rs 250 a kilo, to begin with.

So what is the best way to have this fruit?

Well, if you think it's too hot to chew through this fruit, why not have it like a traditional mango shake in New Delhi?

Now, I've been told that this year, the mango crop isn't very large. But that doesn't mean what we'll be getting in the market, say in a couple of weeks, would be bad.

In fact, the hot weather is getting me excited about having some really sweet fruit this season, as long as I can get hold of enough.

Here are a couple of cool recipes for a scorching summer afternoon.

Mango Shake

(Makes 4 glasses)

4 mangoes

Sugar water (to taste)

Ice

Add everything in the blender and blend until a thick smooth mango shake.

Mango Kulfi

3/4 cup fresh milk

1 tbsp corn flour

1 cup mango pulp

2 packets thick cream

1 tin sweetened condensed milk

2 tbsp rose water

Mix milk with corn flour and the remaining ingredients except the rose water in a saucepan.

Stir for (1 hour) on gentle heat. Add the rose water and mix in together, then pour the mixture in a medium size plastic glasses.

Place the glasses in the freezer (3-4 hours). Then remove it from the plastic glasses and serve.

What's your reaction?
