Free conference on learning disabilities

CHENNAI: The city has organised a free one-day seminar for parents and teachers of children with learning disabilities on June 30, 2011 at Science City Auditorium.The purpose of the seminar is to teach parents about prevention of learning disabilities in children, types of learning disabilities and how to identify them and how to cope with stress.A learning disability is a group of disorders that affect performance in listening, speaking, reading, writing and mathematics. It has perviously been unknown and should be made aware to parents instead of punishing children for poor performance. The seminar will present parents with the opportunity to work with teachers to help these disadvantaged studentsThe lectures will be delivered by eminent personalities in their fields, and will give parents and teachers the opportunity to interact with them and learn about suitable remedies for their children.Registration will begin at 10am and the seminar will start at 10.30am.The conference will be on June 30 and will be held at the Science City Auditorium, Ghandi Mandapam Road.
