Police officers have been put on alert to avert any escalation of tension in the region. Senior superintendent of police KB Singh directed all 27 police station in-charges of the district to stay alert.

New Delhi: Roughly 30 kilometres away from the previous site, another cow carcass was found on Wednesday morning in Bulandshahr’s Jahangirabad area. However, pre-empting a flare-up, police officials immediately buried the dead body and dispersed the crowd.

According to initial eye-witness records, some passersby informed the police that a cow carcass had been found on Jahagirabad-Daulatpur road near a brick-kiln field swinging the local police into action.

Bulandhshahr’s additional superintendent of police, city, Praveen Ranjan Singh said there was no trouble in Jahangirabad and the police have registered an FIR for cow slaughter against unidentified persons in this regard. Four suspects were taken into custody for interrogation, he added.

Additional police force from other police stations were also called as activists of the Bajrang Dal and other Hindu outfits gathered there after coming to know about the recovery of the carcass. Police officers have been put on alert to avert any escalation of tension in the region. Senior superintendent of police KB Singh directed all 27 police station in-charges of the district to stay alert.

This comes immediately after a violent clash between the police and villagers of Mahaw on Monday after a mob turned violent in an alleged case of illegal slaughtering of cattle, resulted in the death of station house officer (SHO) Subodh Kumar Singh, 47, and a youngster.

Among the first administrative officers to reach the spot in Mahaw village was Tehsildar Rajkumar Bhaskar. Talking to News18, he said, "Dead cow meat was hanging in a sugarcane field. Head and skin of a cow hung as if they were clothes on a hanger. It is strange because anybody who would indulge in cow slaughter would not put it out for display knowing the situation in the state. It was visible from a distance."

The Uttar Pradesh police have so far arrested four accused in the Bulandshahr case from among 27 named and 60 unidentified people in the FIR.
