THRISSUR: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Friday that there was nothing wrong in the FIR registered against the Italian marines who shot dead two Indian fishermen off the Kerala coast last week. It is strong enough to pursue the case forward, he said.Denying media reports that the FIR was weak, he said: “It is unfortunate that speculations and canards have spread in such a way by a section of people who do not have any knowledge about the case. Our FIR is strong enough to pursue the case forward and nothing was left to chance when the case was registered.”After receiving the salute at the passing-out-parade of the Armed Police at the Parade Grounds, Ramavarmapuram, Chandy told reporters that the latest developments in the case, like Italy accepting the Indian line on the incident, underline that the steps taken by the Kerala Police and the Coast Guard were on the right path.Appreciating the role being played by the Kerala Police and the Coast Guard, he said the state government would go forward and take stern action against the culprits like the way it handled the case until now.
