CHENNAI: FICCI plans to partner with Tamil Nadu government to make the CM’s Vision 2023 a reality said, Dr GSK Velu, Convernor, HealthCare Panel of FICCI TNSC. Speaking at the fourth edition of TANCARE 2012- Vision 2023 for a healthy Tamil Nadu, he said, “ We are going to partner with the state government to make this Vision 2023 a reality. We will focus on screening the risk factors so as to identify people in various categories of non communicable diseases. We plan to conduct mammography camps three in a month covering all the districts. And also for cervical cancer and various other conditions.”He added that their initiatives will be funded by CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities.Professor Rangabashyam, Senior Consultant-Gastronentrologist, pointed out that India’s biggest challenge is going to be its population. He said, “Unless we take concrete measures on family planning and bring things under control, it will continue to be a challenge to provide quality health care to everybody. The divide will continue to be there.” Mike Nithavianakis, British Deputy High Commissioner, said both UK and India can share and learn from each other’s experience, which is mutually beneficial. Dr Mayil Vahannan Natarajan stressed the importance of improving tertiary health care in the government sector by bring together the medical education and health care.
