New Delhi: Dr Palash Sen's band, Euphoria, joined medical students in their agitation against proposed reservation for Other Backward Classes in higher educational institutes over the weekend.

Sen and his band visited All India Institute of Medical Science in the Capital late on Sunday night and appealed the medicos to continue with their strike till their demands were met.

"We are not against any caste or against any creed. We are not against any tribe. But we are just trying to say that if these students, the best students of the country, are on hunger strike and are giving so much importance to this issue, then there must be some problem definitely," Sen said.

"Everyone should wake up and I appeal to these people 'don't give up'. We are there with you. My effort is just a drop in the ocean and my band is there with me. We are there with you. The whole country is there with you," Sen added.

A doctor by profession, Palash Sen shot to fame with Euphoria and is the most well known member of the band.

Meanwhile, rejecting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's appeal to end their stir, striking medical students announced their decision to continue protesting against the quota issue.

"I request students to call off their agitation. They should have faith in the government to protect the legitimate interests of all sections of the student community," the Prime Minister said at a function to mark the second anniversary of the UPA coalition.

Appealing to the agitating students, he said the government would work towards "a fair, just and inclusive" education system.

However, a protesting medico at AIIMS, Dr Arnab said, the appeal carries no meaning as it does not address their demands.
