A double murder of two elderly persons sent shockwaves through central Bengaluru’s Kumbarpet on Wednesday evening.
Fifty-year-old Suresh and 68-year-old Mahendra were fatally stabbed at a shop in the area over a property dispute and the suspected killer, identified as Badriprasad, is said to have confessed in a call to the police control room immediately after committing the crime.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening when Badriprasad went to a shop called Sri Hari Enterprises, owned by Suresh, at Kumbarpet Main Road, and asked to speak to the latter.
He is then alleged to have taken out a button knife from his bag and stabbed Suresh multiple times on the neck. On hearing Suresh’s screams, his acquaintance Mahindra rushed to save him, but was also allegedly stabbed to death by the accused.
After committing the crime, Badriprasad reportedly called the police control room and confessed to the crime. Halasuru Gate police officials arrived at the spot where the accused surrendered himself.
According to reports, preliminary investigation revealed that the dispute was triggered over the handing over of a four-floor building located on the main road to a community association. The case was pending in the court and the accused had gone to speak to Suresh about the matter.
A forensic team arrived at the murder spot following the incident. Halasuru police officials have registered a case and arrested Badriprasad. Further investigation is underway.
