Mumbai: There seems to be a renewed interest in ‘slice of life’ films. Madhur Bhandarkar’s trilogy on Mumbai tried to give a view of life in India’s commercial capital.
Now Delhi Heights will showcase the lifestyle of four upper-middle class Delhiites.
Jimmy Shergill, who returns to the big screen in a lead role with this low-budget movie, after a bit of a hiatus says Delhi Heights captures the essential look and feel of the Capital.
“The characters are sensitive people, who are prone to taking emotional decisions. They behave like typical Delhiites. Since I am a north Indian it was easy for me to identify with the film’s setting,” says he.
The rest of the cast includes Neha Dhupia, Simone Singh and Ronit Roy. All of them say that they share a certain comfort level as they have known each other for a long time.
The film also marks the Bollywood debut of Rabbi Shergill of Bulla fame as playback singer/lyricist. In fact, it is the music which is the film's USP says director Anand Puri.
“Like all of us, I was also impressed with Bulla and felt that Rabbi's music would suit the north Indian theme of the movie,” says Puri.
Puri adds that when he met Rabbi, he realised that the singer was at his best when he was composing songs he had written himself.
In fact, the movie has included one of the songs from Rabbi's debut album, Tere Bin.
