Dadri: Politicians have now queued up to meet the family of Iqkhlakh, who was beaten to death over suspected beef consumption at Bishada village near Dadri.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday met the victim's family and locals.

Earlier on Saturday Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also visited the village but he had to face the villagers' wrath and was initially denied entry. Police say they did so only to maintain law and order.

On Friday, Cultural Minister Mahesh Sharma and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi formed the beeline.

Sharma sought punishment for those guilty without "victimising" the innocents, while tough talking AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi said the victim was killed because of his religious persuasion and questioned PM Narendra Modi's silence over the issue.

Media was also prevented from entering Dadri post the issue. Earlier on Saturday, CNN-IBN team reporting from the ground came under attack as angry locals protested media presence. An iron rod was thrown at the team and other media networks faced similar attacks.

Two more persons were arrested in connection with the lynching issue Saturday, summing up the total number of arrests made to eight.

50 year-old Iqlakh was beaten to death and his 22-year-old son Danish was critically injured by a 200-strong mob which barged into their house on Monday night following rumours that the family had consumed beef.
