Congress worker Mohammad Afzal Baig, 52, was shot at and critically injured by militants at Changoo-Dooru in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.
Srinagar: Militants killed a Congress worker and a policeman in separate attacks in Anantnag and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, official sources said.
Congress worker Mohammad Afzal Beig, 52, was shot at and critically injured by militants at Changoo-Dooru in south Kashmir's Anantnag district around 1115 hrs, IST, they said.
Beig was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
In the second incident, Head Constable Hanief Ahmad was shot in north Kashmir's Baramulla town around 1320 hrs, IST. Although he too taken to the hospital doctors declared him brought dead, sources said.
No militant outfit, however, has claimed responsibility for the killings. A hunt has been launched to nab the perpetrators.
