Hazaribagh district Chief Medical Officer Dr Om Prakash Arya has been suspended on charge of misbehaving with lady doctors and medical staff at the Sadar Hospital in Hazaribagh.
"The suspension letter was handed over to him after the state health department sent it on Thursday," Deputy Commissioner Sunil Kumar told reporters.
He said that the letter came after the report of a two-member committee headed by probationary IAS officer Harshika Singh found Dr Arya "misbehaving" with the women medical staff in the hospital.
Dr Arya took charge on January 1 this year and the Hazaribagh unit of the Non-Gazette Employees had lodged the complaint with the DC on February 20, following which the probe committee was instituted.
"The members of the probe committee visited the hospital and met the female employees, who provided documentary evidence, including getting threats of transfer to remote areas, demanding Rs 30,000 and keeping them alone in chamber even after duty hours," the DC said quoting the report.
