The inquiry committee formed by the state government in connection with the death of three persons at the Cooperative Medical College Hospital, Kalamassery, visited the hospital on Tuesday.
The panel recorded the statements of the victims’ kin and the officials whose alleged negligence caused the deaths.
The committee headed by Dr Ravindran, special officer, Cooperative Department, with the assistance
of Dr Ramdas and Dr Dinesh Prabhu of Thrissur Medical College, first met the principal of Cochin Medical College.
As part of the evidence collection, they visited the ward and the oxygen plant.
Later, the committee met the family members of the victims and recorded their statements. They sought the explanation from Rajesh, oxygen plant operator, and the nurses in the ICU who were on duty when the incident took place on June 15 and June 17.
The committee will resume the evidence collection process on Wednesday.
The incidents took place on July 15 and July 17 when Jayachandran, Varghese and Pappu died due to the alleged mistake on the part of the hospital officials.
The incident came to light when the members of the Nursing Association wrote a letter to the Chief Minster about the incident a few days later.
After the incident, the hospital management suspended superintendent K G R Mallan from service.
Oxygen plant operator M R Rajesh and nurse-in-charge Akkamma have been suspended and action would be taken after the submission of the inquiry committee report. The committee is likely to file the report by next week.
