ERODE: A undertrial from Chennai died under mysterious circumstances in Gobi on Sunday morning. According to sources, Vadivelu (34), son of Subramani of EVR Periyar Street at Manali in Chennai, was a lorry driver. On April 14, 2009, the tanker lorry which was driven by him hit a government bus near Kasipalayam in Gobi. Kadathur police registered a case and he was facing trial at the Gobi Judicial Magistrate Court.Though the court served many summons asking him to appear in the case, he failed to oblige. Hence, the court issued an arrest warrant and a special team was formed to nab him. Cops, on Saturday, visited his house in Manali and arrested him. He was produced in the JM court, which remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days. He was lodged in prison on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, Vadivelu reportedly told prison officials that he was not feeling well and they took him to Gobi GH. On the way to the hospital he died. The body was then sent for autopsy. Gobi Inspector Ilango and SI Shanmugasundaram visited the prison and held inquiry into his sudden death. Top police officials said the reason of death could be known only after getting the postmortem report.
