In the probe into the case pertaining to the conspiracy to kill RMP leader TP Chandrasekharan in 2009, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) seized the jeep in which the killer gang had travelled and nabbed the driver of the vehicle on Friday.
Police said CPM activist Santhosh, 32, of Mambaram, Thalassery, who was arrested, was the then owner of the Mahindra jeep with registration number KL-13 A 2952.
In 2009, the killer gang led by Kirmani Manoj came to Onchiyam in the jeep several times with the intention to kill Chandrasekharan and Santhosh was the driver on all the occasions. However, the vehicle was later sold, police said.
Earlier, the SIT questioned Santhosh in connection with the probe into the TP murder case. The officials directed him to appear on Friday at Vadakara SIT camp office and recorded the arrest.
The vehicle was seized from its present owner, a native of Kozhikode.
